I keep a notebook/diary/sketchbook in my purse. Every idea, inspiration, reminder, phone number, quote etc gets entered. Each year I start a new notebook.

I converted back to the pencil and notebook world last year, after my tablet pc decided that the marine air from sydney beaches was too much for it and died. Now, I have at least one in my bag at all times, and a little pile of them at home. My favorites are the squared mini notebook, for notes, and a larger plain one for sketches and drawing.

OK, I admit that with all of the gadgets I carry, sometimes I find it easier to jot down notes. I take notes on my Sidekick (backed up automatically by T-Mobile) but I still love paper.

As much as I have tried to eliminate paper from my work space and even bag when out gadding around, I have found the small notebook is a must have for either notes on a particular restaurant or sketching something out for future reference.

I'm always looking for a good sketchbook to work with. Currently I'm rockin' the earthbound sketchbook, but I need some class too do sketches in. Hence this fabulous item, which comes in different sizes to cater to me.

i rarely go anywhere without one of my moleskines. i use it to quickly make note of any idea that i get as i'm racing around through my busy day. just like a lot of people, ideas come to me in the strangest pages and having one of these close at hand makes it so easy to jot down a quick note so i can refer back to it later. i still remember the day i jotted down a quick note about the blankee company.

What I love about Moleskine notebooks is how well they stand up in purses, briefcases, and other harsh environments. (Lesser notebooks can't hack being holed up with car-keys, loose change, and other misc. stuff.) They also come in a variety of sizes and formats (see http://www.moleskine.com). If you're jotting down story/book ideas, you may find that blank notebooks are more useful than the lined notebooks. Lined notebooks tend to lend themselves more to lists and structured things -- at least IMHO.

I have been using these notebooks since they've been revived 6 or 7 years ago. Forget personal organizers, for $10 you get a neat, stylish accessory, which keeps track of your notes and receipts (it has a small pocket in the back of the book), fits anywhere, and does not need batteries! Plus, you can feel like an artist, even if you are sitting in a Starbucks and doodling. After all - Van Gogh never left home without one!

Just like all the other Moleskine Maniacs here, I am completely in love with the simplicity, durability and portability of this ubiquitous companion. The only difference is that my life requires a little bit more order and foe me to think outside of the box I first need to be confined within one. Thats why I insist on the squared (a.k.a. graph paper) version. It works very well for written notes, sketches and ideas that actually use the grid. Were it not for Moleskine I would have probably perished by now. If you're like me, look for the bright yellow band to identify this version.

Discovered Moleskines 1 month ago and now I'm up to 5 Moleskines. Am completely addicted to the feel of the paper and the practice of scribbling in it. There is just something inherently comforting, exciting and inspirational about that blank creamy canvas that makes me want to write, shout, draw, doodle. Lovely stuff.

Found an "extreme Moleskine hack" on pigpog.com wherein you attach a second bookmark “to keep track of where you’re up to, so you can quickly open it and make a note. The only ‘clever’ part is that you have another bookmark, which marks the point at which you’ve dealt with everything in some way. Doesn’t matter if you’ve actually done the things, or just made a note of them elsewhere - as long as you’ve processed them in some way, so you don’t need to look at them again.” There’s more to it… read the full post (click the "via") if you’re ready to really geek out with Post-It tags and a ruler. Interesting... Inspiring... Possibly threatening to bring order to your universe.

I have had Moleskine's for a few years now. They are elegant, compact, and I can't live without mine. Whenever I have a deep thought or want to jot down something cool I heard or saw, I have my moleskine. They are also good for note-taking; you'll see them used in The Devil Wears Prada.

Perhaps it is cheating to recommend two versions of the Moleskine notebook, but the small rule-lined Moleskine I keep in my back pocket feels completely unrelated to the large sketchbook that I do UI design in. Yeah, you read that correctly, I still do UI design with pencil on paper. This isn't appropriate for actual mockups, but it takes you really far when you are working out ideas. Using higher fidelity tools often makes it harder for me to focus on the user because I am so focused on the aesthetic I use the sketchbook because the pages erase extremely well and are very durable. My kids' drawings and doodles fill half my current notebook. It is a communal, portable art gallery.

Moleskine Notebooks are the ideal writing companions, that you want to hold onto forever... perfect for storing the thoughts, ideas and bits of information that you have no intention of losing. Their classic, elegant design is sleek, sexy and functional. Plus, the gorgeous acid-free paper makes the mere act of writing a pleasure. In addition, if you're pretentiously-minded, the notebooks have a rich history of use by noted writers and artists, including Ernest Hemingway. Perhaps another 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' could be mapped out on the pages of *your* Moleskine?

My Moleskine is where I share my dreams and ideas.... it's the place that I can let go stuff in development ... not ready to go public! It's so cool when you see ideas that are separate by birth getting totally unified as time goes by ... and down on the road you just realize they are meant to be together! It's beautiful ....

The ease of use with these things is unbelievable. They go anywhere, hold anything - the famous back pocket is a real innovation when it comes to notepads. The uses are endless, and Moleskine consistently innovates with content and arrangements. I'm a fan of the smaller lined notebooks, though love the idea of a small grid pattern as well.

Channel Hemingway with a Moleskine notebook. There's an energy that eminates from these Italian notebooks. Putting a nice pen to a Moleskine instantly stirs the intellect and encourages one to explore their inner self. Use your Moleskine to record your thoughts, ponder a question, manifest your goals or list 101 things to do in your lifetime. Once you use one of these inspiring notebooks, no other notebook will do.
