Our prehistoric ancestors may have perfected fire, but in the modern age, we have perfected ice! I'll never tire of discovering incredibly fun and innovative new ways to make and shape it, like this cool new IceOrb - Vertical Ice Cube Tray ($11) that makes, chills, serves and stores.

Simply fill the outer silicone shell with water to the fill line, insert the plastic inner bucket and place in the freezer. When the freezing process has finished, remove the inner bucket and out pops 21 ice cubes, er orbs, that can now be stored back in the bucket. You can also leave the ice wall in place and use it as a cooler to keep cold foods like ice cream and appetizers fresh while serving at a party or it can even be used as a unique wine bottle chiller as well. I admit I haven't used this yet, but i looks like a stroke of genius to me... the inner tub can either hold ice or be used to hold foods that need to be chilled. fill the other tub with liquid, insert the inner tub and freeze... and voila! Ice cubes!

Is it a necessity? No. But does it look cool in your freezer and when you take it out to get ice out of it in front of your friends? Yes! This vertical ice tray does it all - freezes cubes, stores, and keeps bottles and goodies cold in the middle. (via A+R Store)

The video alone on this website relaxed me. It's such a smart design and makes so much sense. Ice cube trays are so archaic, it's about time for a re-design.
