The ipod nano is put out by apple and is a mid-range ipod. It has a portable media player which combines ipod shuffle and ipod classic. It has flash memory and is a mini version of the color screen and clic wheel. It's also immune to skipping. It's the smallest size product Apple has put out and is resilent to just about anything. In testing, it was sat upon, thrown out by a jogger, thrown from cars at varying speeds, thrown up 40 feet high and landing on concrete and still played on. Even when run over by a car, while it was mangled but continued to play on.
At Apple, you can get vintage or new ipods. Your world will change as you view it through such a small unit. Enter the twenty-first century and see, feel, taste, touch, and hear how pleasurable life can be. (via apple.com)

No big surpises here- I love the Nano and use it extensively in my car to listen to podcasts and audiobooks. Because I don't have a direct connection to my car stereo, the audio quality in my car is not great for music but it is fine for spoken word stuff.
The software is also good in that it remembers where you were in a track so you can skip around betweenn audiobooks w/out losing your place.

It's the older model, and it's exactly what I need. I can't put full audiobooks on it and keep my collection of favorite music, but it's perfect. I had one of the large early versions, but the size of this is so much nicer. I can stick in my pocket and not even feel it, but I love it so much that it's in no danger of getting washed. ;-)
If I had to choose one electronic item for the rest of my life...well, yeah. It'd be my Nano.

I love the old ipod nanos better than the new ones because they are smaller in width and I would rather carry around that than some really wide thing like the new ones. Also I think it looks better than the new ones do.
