"A Dharmakarma original creation.

This sari art draws its inspiration from an original poly cotton machine woven sari. Indian sari has three sections: body, border and the shoulder drape. This particular wall art designed and made by me depicts the body and the border. The sari is reconstructed on a 140 lb Arches rough watercolor paper with the body painted in shades of brown and purple. To invoke the shimmer of poly cotton I added iridescent medium to the watercolor paint. After the color was painted, I hand drew with white color pencil several diamond shaped motifs.

The border is real sari pieces stitched together from various bits and ends. The border measures 2 3/4". The watercolor paper is backed with acid-free paper and mounted on a framed back stapled canvas.

It is with great pleasure I present this replica of an Indian sari that offers both visual and sensual pleasure with its colors and with a piece of the actual sari. Enjoy it by hanging on the wall or placing it on a desk where you can reach out and feel the luxuriousness of the fabric.
