OK, I finally saw this cult classic probably 10 years ago and it was by far one of the trippiest movies I've ever seen. And it stars Sean Connery running around in a loincloth, ponytail and cheesy 70's porn 'stache! It was so bugged out I can't even begin to recall the story line, so here it is from a reviewer on Amazon:
"A bewigged Sean Connery is Zed, a savage "exterminator" commanded by the mysterious god Zardoz to eliminate Brutals, survivors of an unspecified worldwide catastrophe. Zed stows away inside Zardoz's enormous idol (a flying stone head) and is taken to the pastoral land of the Eternals, a matriarchal, quasi-medieval society that has achieved psychic abilities as well as immortality.
