This is a plug-and-play music appliance that cooperates with Rhapsody to play any one of millions of songs and Internet radio stations from your home. From Joel Splosky's article, it sounds like it's easier to set up than Slim Devices' Squeezebox. The UI is certainly nicer. My only complaint about the Squeezebox is its clunky web UI.

Sonos is by far, the most elegant and easiest way to liberate your digital music from the PC. The devices integrate with your existing home theater equipment or can stand alone. By leveraging its own wireless technology, it brings music to any room of your home without the burden of wiring speakers back to a stereo unit. A great addition to Sonos is Rhapsody. It gets fun when one breaks the cord of a online subscription music service and allows the music to be played in other areas of the house. Sonon isn't inexpensive and there are limitations. Your will have issues if you are an Itunes person and have either purchased a decent amount of music from Apple or ripped music using Itunes default AAC format. That digital music isn't compatible. Also, there are limitations to the range of the wireless network. Sonon currently doesn't have a true bridge device for reaching out of the way area of your home, but one can use Homeplug technology to overcome this.

All in all, Sonos is such a superior product to Raku or some of the other wireless streaming solutions in the house hold. It is well worth the investment.

The most elegant solution currently available for listening to all your stored and subscription digital music at home. Basically, Sonos accesses every supported music file on your wireless network and collates them all into one management system. I use my Sonos with a Buffalo Terastation and can access my Rhapsody subscription, enabling me to have millions of songs at my fingertips. Sonos uses an iPod-like controller with a scrollwheel to manage artists, genres, tracks, etc. and to create playlists. You can separate your house into "zones" and control different music in each zone.
This thing is addictive and they should pay me royalties for the number of people who've bought it after seeing it at my house. Designwise it's not too bad either, with an unobtrusive ivory plastic thing happening.

This is one of those "as it should be" items. This will change your life and you don't have to call the cable guy. This is what you get when you want to be kind to yourself, if you really enjoy your music. This is what you can get for me, any old time.
