Fontana Arte was launched by architect Gio Ponti in 1932 as the artistic division of a glass company that had been in business since the mid-19th century. Today, another distinguished architect, Gae Aulenti, serves as the company’s art director. Fontana Arte sells fixtures that reflect its origins, in addition to new designs by Aulenti, Piero Castiglio, Renzo Piano and others. There’s everything here to successfully illuminate a room, from clear-glass and aluminum pendants to colored-glass wall sconces. Based in Corsico, Fontana Arte recently opened its first US showroom. The line is also available from 45 US retailers. (via Elements of Living)
