In the late 70's into the early 80's Argentina had a "Dirty War". Approximately as many as 30, 000 people "disappeared" (Los Desaprecidos). Many of the disappeared were young pregnant women who as soon as they gave birth were murdered. Their children were adopted by some of the military who participated in the Dirty War or by people who couldn't have children. These children of the disappeared were never told who they really are. Cautiva is a fictional account with a historical basis of what some of the children of the disappeared have gone through. Barbara Lombardo gives a stunning performance of a young girl who finds out she is not who she thinks she is.
