If you plan to breastfeed for more than about six weeks, I highly recommend investing in a Madela pump. I have quite a few friends who purchased a (less expensive) hand pump and ultimately ended up with this electric pump. I used my pump at home and at work which were places I thought I’d use it, but I also used it in places I never would have anticipated such as weddings, vacation and off-site meetings. Pumping is not glamorous, but if you are going to do it, pump in style!

Only buy this if you work outside the home or want to pump so hubby or grandparents can feed your baby. I bfed my boys for 2 years and not once did I use my pump. I even had surgery and as soon as I was awake enough to sit up they let me nurse my son who was 4 months at the time.

This was a total life-saver when my son was born. It took us a little while to get used to breastfeeding and this breast pump allowed me to keep my supply up until we got the hang of it. Plus, I was able to store up an ample supply to send with him to daycare once I went back to work.
