MIA is what I've been waiting for all my life, MIA's sound is bold, colorful, approachable, danceable and fun, her words are post feminist, post western, and post label. Her album "Kala" a punk statement merged with familiar Asian and African beats is disguised as a Hip-Hop album yet its a step to the side of Hip-Hop in a emerging area that remains unclassified.

"Paper Planes" is great!

This cd is awesome. I bought it because of the paper planes song that's being used on the Pineapple Express movie and wasn't sure how I would handle the rest of the cd. Loves it! I don't even know how to describe it but this girl's amazing.

Kala features the song "Paper Planes" (played at Les Deux) which can be heard in the upcoming movie "Pineapple Express." The first single to roll off this album was "Boyz," which was listed as number 1 on the Rolling Stones hot list. Straight from Sri Lanka, her songs are usually remixed by Djs such as Diplo. Word has it that M.I.A. just finished playing her last show ever on June 13th in Bannaroo in pursuit to do more studio recording.

At first I only listened to that Paper Planes song and loved it and then listened to the whole album and went crazy for it. Great to dance to.

There's a slick conscientiousness in M.I.A.'s lyrics that I quite admire. It's refreshing to hear an MC talk about something other than all the brand name goods they've acquired.
