I make our house hot sauce by mixing equal part of Tabasco and chilpotle peppers. It sits on our table next to the salt and pepper, the kids call it “dad’s ketchup.”

Tabasco Sauce is where all hot sauce begins for the average American. More than likely a drop or two of Tabasco was responsible for the first time you ever waved your hand wildly in front of your mouth in a "man that's hot" manner while your eyes bugged out and you reached for a glass of ice water to gulp down in an effort cool your tongue.

Now any serious chilihead would not consider Tabasco to be more than a nice mild flavoring but for most people it's the way to go. Spicy, tasty and red hot. Highly recommended on eggs, gumbo and anything that could use a little pep.

And that logo design has to be one of the best ever created. Right up there with Apple, Coke & that weird Toyota thing whatever that is.

The one, the only, the ideal. Just vinegar, salt and chili peppers, and that's all that's needed. Tabasco is the mother's milk of hot sauces. (via joanthanwhite)
