As a long-time Dance Dance Revolution fan right on into Wii Sports, I can get behind video games that can actually make exercise fun! Who knew? I am also hugely into Pilates and look forward to trying out Wii Yoga! On July 11, Wii Fit was announced at Nintendo's E3 press conference. This experience builds on the active-play phenomenon started by Wii Sports. It comes with the pressure-sensitive board that measures user's actions in fun aerobic, toning and balance activities. The game calculates body mass index (BMI) and sets goals to help you lose or gain weight and reach your optimum BMI level. It includes fitness activities such as hula hooping, ski jumping, balancing and yoga among others. Coming in the first half of 2008.

I tried the Wii Fit at E3 in July 2007 and kept getting back in line to try it again: hula hoop, skiing, head-butt soccer, etc. BBC News even aired a clip of my woefully unskilled hula hooping, but hey, it was only my first try. I'm always on the lookout for lazy person exercise gadgets!

The Wii Fit is an interactive balance board that will allow you to integrate your body's balance into the gameplay of certain Wii games - ie leaning to block a soccer ball. It also has over 40 training activities built-in to encourage household fitness. These will most certainly sell out.

Who would have imagined that Apple Computers would make more money on software for the arts than on business software, I guess it comes as no surprise that Nintendo has now moved in to the sports and fitness business, what's next will MTV drop Reality TV shows and become the meditation channel?

This is a great buy. If you currently do no or very little exercise, get this game. The hardware is a rectangual white board, a bit wider than a scale. It's got plenty of space to plant your feet on and can hold up to 330 pounds of weight. Inside are highly sensitive pressure sensors. Anyway, the game. It's cutely designed. There are 4 types of activities: Aerobics, Strength training, Balance, and Yoga. Except for Yoga, all of the activities have themes or games to make it more fun. For example, one balance game has you walking across a tight-rope. Another has you do stepping exercises on a stage. One cute aerobic game has you swirl a hula-hoop around your waist, while you also try to catch extra hoops with your head (you have to lean). The best part are the personalized recommendations. You'll get feedback on your balance, and tips to improve if you're having a tough time with an activity. It makes working out a little more fun. You may not get six-pack abs, but it definitely helps.

My Husband and I want the wii fit to help us get more excercise even during the really hot months down south. Great for rainy winter days also. Plus it appears to be for people of all ages.

I love that it tracks your wieght and BMI with password protection. I only wish it let you do all the exercises at once instead of one at a time; there is no steady flow. Other then that it's awesome!

I saw this on a display at Westwood Village the other day, they wouldn't allow us to try it for legal reasons, but it made me want one really badly! The coolest game I saw was Yoga, can you image learning Yoga on a Wii? Not exactly what I thought the future would be like, but at least it's fun!

This is truly the best way to get off the couch and get in shape! My two girls (9 & 11) are always playing and challenging me. How can I say no to that? It's funny, I used to think that unbalanced referred to one's mental state! However, these games truly show you how bad posture contributes to poor body strength and trouble balancing. We have been using the Wii Fit for a week and can now actually do the yoga pose on the box without falling on our faces!

ereign472's recommendation
Is it a game, or is it exercise? For me it's both--fun that helped me shed some pounds. Ever since I got the Wii, I look forward to playing it. While Wii Fit is challenging at times, the looser fit on my pants tell me that it's worth every moment (even though I don't look like the skinny girl on the screen LOL). You'll see for yourself....do you dare?

If you cannot afford a gym or do not have time to go to one this is a great alternative. It offers Yoga, Strength training, Balance Games, and Aerobics. Although not as good a workout as a gym, it's great exercise and lots of fun.
-

I finally found a wii fit in stock, and it sucks I had to wait sooo long. If you ever see one, do not pass it up. You can excercise your whole body with a video game. Your no longer sitting on the couch but excercising on a board. You can even run with the remote, and your heart really starts beating as if your in a gym. Who would have thought we'd be excercising with a video game. Before you spend money on a gym membership, give this a 30 day try.

I got the Wii fit system this summer and as of today I have lost 50 pounds and dropped from a 16 to a size 10. I'm buying 4 more of the Wii fit systems for my 3 friends and 1 for my boss . If you want to make a change from fat butt to tight butt go out and spend the money for this item. It will pay for itself by helping you change your life.

FastFinder007's recommendation
First, let me clarify the purpose of the wii fit. It's main function is its ability to measure weight. This isn't just a static weight, the way the sensors are distributed, it measures the weight distribution (ie: it can tell if you are leaning one way or another) So that means it is not only a great way to record your stats, but it is good for posture realignment as well. You can't run on the thing or you would break it, but it does provide some fun ways to strength train and to stretch. Yes, you could do it for free, but would you? By following what they tell you, you don't need to look up what you need to do, pay attention to how long you've actually been "exercising", or write down your weight everyday. All in all, it makes strength training and posture adjusting easier and more doable. It's a great way to start if you haven't been physical in awhile and actually measuring yourself regularly is important as well. You still have to eat right and probably do some cardio outside of the Wii Fit, but everyone has to move one step at a time.

Having fun, while exercising, without having to leave the house...on something that is neither loud nor takes up the whole living room space? Oh yeah, it is quite fantastic to have a Wii Fit! I bought it as a present for my roommate now...I will barely let him have it!! It's really funny but I just feel really good about playing video games in a healthy way. And at least, that is a game I am good to... :)

Ok everyone and their fatcat knows what wii fit is. I don't need to post an image of the box it comes in. This image, pilfered from Flickr (via Svenstorm) seemed MUCH more appropriate and infinitely more realistic than some serene, svelte model standing like a flamingo with the only thought in her head being "namaste". Provided this apparatus doesn't run for the hills once it sees me coming, I think we could get to be pretty good friends. Clearly it's not afraid to tell me what I already know but unlike a judgy stranger, the wii fit may just have the ability to give me some solid direction and pointers without making me feel like Grimace crashing a Bratz after-party. (:

I love my Wii Fit almost as much as I love eating frosting out of the container. Now that I think about it, if I loved frosting less maybe I wouldn't even need a Wii Fit. The Wii Fit gets you moving through a variety of fun programs. It'll also weigh you, calculate your BMI, offer you encouraging tips and even give you Yoga lessons. I don't know how I ever lived without one.
