  Excuse me, but Ms. Weaver's natural and engaging narration is much more inviting and comfortable than David Attenborough's voice has EVER been. What really disappoints me is that the DVD and BD producers couldn't bring the BBC and Discovery productions together and LET THE VIEWER DECIDE who they want narrating this exquisite series. Particularly with the memory capacity of Blu-Ray discs, that SHOULD HAVE been a 'no-brainer'!!! SHAME ON YOU ALL, VIDEO PRODUCERS!

  As beautiful and engaging as the videos are, they are enhanced immeasurably by Sigourney Weaver's narration. If you are old enough, you might agree that her performance is right up there with such vocal luminaries as Winston Hibler (the Disney nature shows of the 50s) and Alexander Scourby. Also the late, great George Paige.

I am completely fascinated by this series. What better way to celebrate Earth Day than marveling at the wonders, both animal and geography, that surround us. This is some of the best cinematography I have ever seen. I can watch this over and over again because each and every image is so beautiful. Watching this I have learned about unique animals and places I never knew existed. I have recommended this to everyone I know and I recommend it to you, too!

i love planet earth. and yes, even with the blasphemous narration by sigourney weaver. and if you have any interest in nature or are a fan of ridiculously awesome footage, then you will too. but come on people, why change something so perfect? it's just not right, DAVID ATTENBOROUGH IS THE SHIT, go for the original, on blu-ray if possible, and for ideal viewing, on a 52 inch with high contrast ratio.

It's interesting...when you aren't forced to learn or study something, how much you want to learn about things. Hence, the popularity of the Discovery and History channels. Oprah deemed this as one of her favorite things and I diddo that. Also a great gift idea!
