What's the masculine form of 'fashionist?' Well, if you know him, then he needs this book, which reviews occasional dressing through the eyes of fictional characters and the style they possessed on-screen, men everywhere will be taking direction from some of the most fashionable scenes in the history of cinema.

While the world of fashion and its increasingly versatile and accessible menswear wing is still a little too dandyish for most guys to get behind when looking for some style advice, movies are quite acceptable. The genius of Dressing in the Dark is the realization that film provides a filter between fashion and reality that makes the average guy a little more comfortable. That said, classic onscreen style for men relies a bit too heavily on the hungover-mod tropes of the Rat Pack and Bond -- a space where a ten-o'clock shadow and cuff links fit perfectly -- but contemporary men's men like Sean Penn and Brad Pitt round the text out nicely.
