The UN World Food Programme Feed Bag was designed by Lauren Bush, UNWFP Honorary Spokesperson, to help fight child hunger worldwide. The most in-style bag of the season, in my opinion. Buying one bag feeds a child for an entire year. Then, you can use the bag wherever you like to show off and remind yourself of the good karma you just invested in. Way better than spending $60.00 on a fake leather (aka plastic) handbag.

Description
It's roomy, it's sturdy, it's stylish. I use it as a tote on my weekend trips, but it's also great as a book bag or simply for carrying groceries.
Best of all, its purchase feeds a child in need in school for one school year.

I finally received some email about these bags. They are made in China. The lady who responded says they are fairly made. This is something I always take with a grain of salt, in the hundreds of emails I've sent about the subject, EVERYONE says their Chinese based products are fairly made. Who wouldn't? Its literally impossible to check up on!
On the plus side, this is an international charity. They were looking for the cheapest place in the world, and they settled on China. The logic here does make some sense. The lady who answered my email wrote that over $800,000 in 2007 was brought in by the purchase of these bags. This fed over 37,500 kids.
And, their auditors are www.Verite.org. (Verité is an independent non-profit organization monitoring international labor rights abuses in off-shore production sites). That's more info than I usually get :)
I'm curious to check it out further, but for me, the China issue bothers me. I want to support U.S. interests here, and try to buy as locally as I can. In a gestalt way, outsourcing has given us much of the current mess we are in with regards to unsafe drugs, toys and food. In a moral sense, I don't really feel its right to buy more of these bags, for me. I'm going to be donating to a children's charity instead.

Description
I use this bag till it’s filthy (both sides—it’s reversible), and then I wash it and go again. It’s comfy on the shoulder, it holds as little or as much as you want, and it has that cool edgy downtown urbanista flavor. Plus there really is nothing better than knowing that buying this bag will feed a hungry child in school for a year. The cotton is undyed (heavy-metal dyes are pretty toxic) and the burlap contains jute fiber, a rapidly renewing resource.
