with a pointed end you can insert this into the sand, dirt or snow...or using the rubber strap hang it from a tree, balcony, etc. this lighting of torches is an old tradition in Denmark,,now you have modern materials combined with the tradition...makes for great atmosphere, welcoming, etc...
