In eighth grade, my English and Social Studies teachers split us into small groups and tasked us with preparing an essay and skit about a given era of American history. Lucky me, the dancer wanna-be, we were assigned the Jazz Age. And so began my fascination with all things flapper, Art Deco and Chicago.
