It's always better to lock your stuff up when leaving things in public areas. The DaKine Cam Lock is a solid ski/snowboard lock (though it can be used on anything from computer monitors to bikes).
Its wire is thicker than most other locks in this category, and it has a 4 digit combination lock, as opposed to a measly three. (This way, thieves will have to try 10K number combinations as opposed to an easy 999 :D )
The 'cam' feature allows you to loop the wire, and the lock, over itself, allowing you to secure awkwardly shaped items (snowboards come to mind). Comes in a nice pouch that's easy to carry around.
