I know this is simple, but it is one of those things I didn't have in the house with my first baby. We used one in our bedroom for the first 4-6 months that each of our babies were infants and sleeping in our room. We left it on all night which helped eliminate the need to turn on a bright overhead light in the middle of the night. You don't really want to be awake at 11:30, 1, 3, 5 every night, so if you don't have to turn on a bright light, this helps you stay half asleep. We changed diapers, fed and checked on our babies with just a simple night light. (via Mom's Favorite Stuff)
