This short book explains Javascript well, and treats it as a serious programming language instead of just a toy to move things around a web page. Javascript has significant differences from more traditional OO languages, but it can be used to write great software.

Now that web browsers (esp. Firefox 3 and Google Chrome) are able to run javascript much more quickly than before, books like this are important to help developers understand how to create more fully feature web applications.
