San Francisco's Best Dive Bars: Drinking and Diving in the City by the Bay
I love dive bars. The are fun and unpretentious (any type of club with "Ultra" in the name makes me cringe). Give me a good jukebox with some loud rock and roll and a place where I can get a bottle of Newcastle. If I can see some live bands there, even better. I've been to at least 5 or 6 of the places recommended in this book and was never disappointed. They all accurately live up to their description. They did a really overall good job with the recommendations. I really like Lucky 13! Even for those of you who live here, this is good if you want to venture into a neighborhood other than the ones you usually go out in. Also, I can't remember if it is listed in the book or not, but if you want a great dive bar with live music, check out my favorite, Thee Parkside.
