These days, you can get five different varieties of potpourri at CVS. Back in the 80s and 90s, you couldn't walk into a doctor's office, real estate agency, or other professional venue without nearly suffocating in a miasma of peach or apple, complete with garish wood chips in BRIGHT ORANGE! or CHEERY RED! But before all that, there was Claire Burke's Original, with its delicate, old-fashioned scent. It's just about the only potpourri I've ever had that stays true in all its incarnations, too: linen spray, room spray, even the scented stationery I got for my 16th birthday, all smell the same.
