Star Wars - Episode III, Revenge of the Sith
I waited 20 years for George Lucas to get around to making the prequels he promised after the original series. I know, Return of the Jedi should have set my expectations, but I was so excited right before Episode 1 came out that I, then a grown man, actually had dreams about going to see the movie. Real dreams. While I was asleep. Fortunately, my wookie costume wasn't delivered in time to camp out in line. Because if I had waited in line a week to see that drivel, there woulda been hell to pay. Chewbacca doesn't cotton to watered down stories starring lousy child actors and CGI amphibians. He shoots them (and the people who sell tickets to them) with his laser crossbow. Anyway, fast forward 6 years. Finally Episode III pulled everything together the way we knew they had do, and -- amazingly -- they did it somewhat deftly. Don't get me wrong; it's no Batman Begins. But they managed to tidy up all the loose ends like an intergalactic sudoku puzzle and write a story that gives you the sense that Darth Vader might be just a little bit evil. Not the criminal mastermind I thought he was, but mean in a barfight. If you're going to buy just one prequel DVD, this is the one. But if you've gotten this far in my review, you already own all three. Don't you? Until the sequel never comes out, this is all we've got, space fans.
Don't we have a need to know how it started?
Definitely the darkest of all the Star Wars movies, but also one of the most emotion and action packed. It's an incredible end to such an amazing journey. This DVD is a must own to complete the set.
