Lots of good tips on improving web site performance, from a guy who heads up those efforts for Yahoo. Much of this information is also available online (search for YSlow).

The bible of front end performance form the maker of the YSlow toolbar. Covers all types of non-obvious ways to improve performance (using multiple domains, modifying way Javascript is included, etc.).

All of this information is available on the web, but I still prefer it in book form.
