If fuel economy is of first import to you, stick with the Prius or Camry Hybrid. But if you’re looking for a car that’s a bit roomier, the Camry Hybrid is a great bet that can get you high-30s for fuel economy. Very nicely appointed including a “game like” fuel economy monitor, and the price will actually be coming down with the ’08 model year (to coincide with the end of Toyota’s hybrid tax credit in September). Maybe 24 hours isn't long enough to write a tried-and-true recommendation about a car, but whatever. I just bought a 2008 Camry Hybrid. It's great.
We were looking for a fuel-efficient car that offered some luxury appointments: Leather seats, iPod hookups, built-in Nav system, steering wheel controls and handsfree phone. All that, and there's room to move around inside.
I'm loving the keyless operation, how quiet it can be, and messing around to see how little fuel we can use when accelerating from a stop.
