Innerstate Music is the long-awaited third album from Nappy Roots, the Grammy-nominated hip-hop group from Kentucky. This album is just plain good music. It offers a taste of life that most of us can instantly relate to, with doses of joy and pain, some tongue in cheek, and some serious consciousness raising stuff. The album sounds great, and the songs are a striking alternative to most of today's rap and hip hop.
If you are looking for songs about foolishness, this is not for you. Nappy Roots has come back with something on their collective minds. Innerstate takes on issues, starts the party, asks who got it, and deals with the aftermath all at once. To promote awareness of the continued plight of Americans affected by Hurricane Katrina, Nappy Roots challenges everyone to Please Say Help's On The Way by downloading their song Dreamin'. They're dedicating all their proceeds from that single to Gulf relief efforts.
