I love farmers markets, but sometimes I just don't have the time to go to them. This great service allows you to not only support your local farmers, but also get fresh organic products and crafts delivered right to your door! Simply go to the website, type in your zip code and a whole range of different products will be listed. LocalHarvest will show you products sold online for shipping, delivery, or farm pickup, sorted by distance to your location so you can find the products offered by the farms closest to you.

Some of the products they feature are herbs, preserves, gift baskets, wool products, home made soaps/lotions, seeds, maple syrup, fruits, meats, and flowers just to name a few!

Kwanzaa decorations include fruits and vegetables laid out on a mkeka (straw mat or cloth.) Specifically, you're going to need one ear of corn for each child in the family. If there are no kids, you'll just be using the 2 ears of corn. The corn goes on either side of the mkeka. They'll flank the Kinara, which is the candleholder with 7 candles, one per Kwanzaa principle. (phew!)

The other fruits and vegetables go in the mazao (basket). Traditional inclusions are pumpkins, squash, bananas and sweet potatoes--and whatever else you like. Since these are seasonal, the LocalHarvest stores should have them available for home delivery, so that you can focus on the rest of your Kwanzaa decorations!
