Apparently I'm the only person who did not get this book as a kid, but thanks to ThisNext, my daughter enjoys hearing these poems read to her. I try to stick to just one a night so we can make it last.

All kids love Shel Silverstein. Light-hearted, funny poems and illustrations. Great for babysitting, entertaining young relatives or just reading yourselves.

I'm currently taking a Children's Literature course and my teacher says, if you're only going to buy one kids book, buy a Silverstein.

Shel Silverstein is a blast. His stories, poems, and little word games make me laugh, think, reflect and enjoy being. I love hearing them read aloud in a group of kids and adults alike!

Okay, so this is more like age 5 rather than 15, but my love for Shel Silverstein has never faded over the years. I was so excited to give this book to my niece last Christmas, and I can't wait to share it with other future Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout fans over the years...

This book gave me my first taste of looking at the world through a different lens.

It also gave me a new respect for the stickiness of peanut butter sandwiches.

A must read for anyone who was, is, or ever might be a kid. (via My lovely mother, Mary)
