What's not to love? Fantastic illustrations, great story, and an opportunity for improvisation. I have read this to my boys at least 100 times. I still read it to them when they will let me, but that's pretty rare (they are 9 and 10 now). In case anyone is wondering, the sound you should make for the wild ruckus is "ooga-booga ooga-booga ooga-booga boo." Okay, so it isn't written in the book... it's obvious, isn't it?

Maurice Sendak seldom wrote books and always wrote in his own style. His illustrations are like no one else and his stories create a world fromhis imagination like none other. It took my kids a few times to get into "Where the Wild Things Are" but I could have started reading it too early. Yes, I have to say that "Where the Wild Things Are" is a classic children's book and a must have for any bookcase.

Another Children's Book classic. Considered a touchstone for picture books and illustrated fantasy. The words and images work together to enhance your voyage with Max to Where the Wild Things Are. A Must Have.

As a child, this was one of my absolute favorite books. Twenty five years later, it's my child's favorite as well. This is a classic that simply must be in every child's collection of bedtime stories!

there are tons of incredible children's books out there, and i could never recommend even all of the ones i have (i'm too much of a bibliophile...i'd be here forever). but here's one example of literature that should be on every child's bookshelf.

What a classic book. Suprisingly I have not yet got to read this to my (god where does the time go) 4 year old. But I will. I will...
