Great addition to a dark basement, a kids room (nite light), or any place you need a nice gentle light.

This wallpaper eliminates the need for a 3D object for a light source. The wallpaper can be turned on or off as the light source. I think it's boss. I don't own this, but I really respond to the idea and the visual. (via Jonas Samson Product Design)

Whoa. So much for ceiling lamps. This wall paper can be turned on and off and actually emits light! Get it fast so you'll be the first on your block :)

From the site:
Light-emitting wallpaper
With Jonas Samson's high-tech light-emitting wallpaper it's possible to use a two-dimentional flat surface as light source instead of a 3D object.
As long as the wallpaper is turned ‘off’, it is indistinguishable as a source of light. Instead, it is just what it appears to be: wallpaper.

Although his designs are breathtakingly beautiful in and of themselves, the real genius behind this wallpaper the light that streams through it. And, as with most artificial light sources, the wallpaper can be turned on or off. Some of the designs can be illuminated (or hidden) in stages. You can, in effect, become an amateur lighting designer merely by installing Samson's paper. I think Edison himself would be impressed. (via Daily Candy London)

Light Emitting Wallpaper.
I can't wait for this!
Perfect for rooms lacking daylight.
Jonas Samson's wallpaper will enable us to use two-dimensional light sources instead of the 3D lighting fixtures currently in use around the world.
The wallpaper's light emitting patterns are made of embedded light (light emitting diodes = LEDs), which consume very little power and are relatively cheap.
When the lights within the wallpaper are in the 'Off' position, the wallpaper is indistinguishable from any other wall covering surface, and when they are in the 'On' position you can enjoy the transition of multiple patterns. The wall emits a nice glow that can illuminate a small room.
Because of the low power consumption and low production costs of LED many believe this technology has the potential to take over the in indoor lighting market. In fact, LEDs were prominent in exhibitions held throughout Europe this year.
