Zojirushi Hot Water Dispensing Pot

I have had free-standing water heaters and under-sink ones, cheap ones and expensive ones, and nothing comes close to matching the efficiency and ease of use of this workhorse. It heats four liters of water and keeps it at a temperature you choose so you always have hot water for cooking, instant soups, cereals and meals, and most important for tea. I simply couldn't do without this in the winter when my tea intake rivals that of the entire city of London.
This unit doesn't produce a lot of steam so it's perfect for under cabinet use. It has a clear water level gauge so you always know when you're running low -- measured in liters, so it's a learning experience -- and a locking mechanism so it's harder for little hands to work the dispenser. Another nice safety feature is the magnetic cord release, which should be standard on small kitchen appliances in my opinion.
It isn't perfect. You do have to descale it occasionally, but I've had mine for several years and only had to do this once. A filter would be nice, but I can cope without one. The important thing is that unless I get sloppy about refilling it, I always have hot water at hand. And that is something to shout about.
