SmartWool Clothing & Socks.
They make a men's line and a women's line...and a kid's line, too... but they're basic enough that you can certainly find something to suit you no matter your taste.
Regardless of your gender, if you live anywhere that gets remotely chilly, you will totally benefit from these clothes. They make a men's line and a women's line...and a kid's line, too... but they're basic enough that you can certainly find something to suit you no matter your taste. SmartWool is marketed as 'outdoor' gear, and this stuff is invaluable to outdoorsy type folk, but the products they make are great even for city-dwellers. These garments are made of merino wool, but don't let that deter you, because the things made by SmartWool are as soft as cotton. If you're at all active (ahem, running for a bus), you'll appreciate the way that the wool wicks perspiration away from your body, keeping you warm and dry. The socks; well they're everything you'd want in a sock. Warm but breathable, and they keep their shape well year after year. The base-layers aren't too bulky (perfect for layering), but also don't scream "thermals" should you decide to wear the shirt on its own, or the bottoms as leggings. And they come in different weights to suit your needs. btw-- The micro-weight is nice and light, but it is a bit delicate for someone like me (i.e., I'm the kind of person who can't wear stockings once without getting a snag in 'em-- I only use my micro-weight set when the mid-weights simply won't do). The mid-weight base-layers, on the other hand, are at least as durable as any t-shirt, and they are wonderful for use year-round. The really heavy-duty layers are probably best worn as a single layer, or in places that see snow, or by people who either spend a lot of time outdoors, or who get cold easily.
