Although we call it "bread", I have recently learned that what my Mom actually bakes every year on St. Patrick's Day is "cake" because it contains currants. A technicality, but particularly important if you intend to enter your recipe in any Irish Soda Bread Baking Contest. A fun, non-alcoholic way to celebrate the good saint.
