I've been reading Tolkien since I was 11, so when I heard these were being made into movies, I was worried. Peter Jackson put ALL my worries to bed, creating Middle Earth on screen just as it looked in my imagination. These movies are iconic! Hooray!

Excellent. Simply put. In the extended edition (for all three movies), Peter Jackson wove in an additional 30-45 minutes of extra footage that makes the movie that much better. Truly a visually stunning adaptation of the books. Three great movies by Peter Jackson and his team.

A few changes notwithstanding, I've rarely seen books transferred more successfully onto the screen. Peter Jackson brought Middle Earth to living, breathing life and captured both the high adventure and the emotion of the books. Highly recommended and eminently rewatchable.
