This is actually a really nice corner piece, but when my wife and I bought it, we never intended to use it in a corner, we bought it to use it as two separate tables.
Having similar style work desks in the study makes them just look so much neater. (and the bonus of being able to turn them into a corner unit later is also pretty cool)
We love it. And have had ours for a few years now. I would say it is worth considering over a solid corner set.
