This is one of Google's best kept little secrets! You can get loads of really useful on-demand info send to your phone via SMS (Text Message). Why is this so great? It gives you access to important info without using 411 or if you don’t have a data plan on your cell phone.

Need the phone number to that Chinese take out joint you love?

Looking for that place someone told you about but never gave you the full info?

Need to know what torque means?

Suddenly find yourself needing to know the population of Uruguay?

Google SMS can do all of this. All you do is send a simply phrased message to GOOGL (46645) and within seconds you'll get a reply with your info. Worst-case scenario: you pay for each text message (usually 5 cents) or if you have a number of text messages included in your plan you don’t pay anything! Google doesn’t charge anything for this. Remember that data plans are expensive if you don’t use them a lot and one simple call to 411 can cost almost $2!

You can be that person who always has the answers! I use this almost every day! This is faster and cheaper than any alternative.

Example: Asking "Bloomingdales near 10001" gets "(1/2) Local Listings: Bloomingdales 504 Broadway New York, NY 10012 212-729-5900 1.8 mi, S Bloomingdales 59th & 60th 1000 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10022"
