Without a doubt The Vampire Lestat is the best book in the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. All the other books are great too but The Vampire Lestat just sticks out for me. You truly can't help but fall in love with the devilish main character. It's funny, it's dark, it's sexy. Anne Rice is really an amazing author.

Although this is the second book in the series, I recommend reading it first. It makes the tragedies of the first book all the more poignant. Not to mention a different perspective on some of the tension and strife between the main characters.
