Owning this album is not optional. There's a reason why there's so much hype around Arcade Fire, because they're amazing. Saw them at Coachella last year and it was by far the best live performance I have ever seen a band put on. Go buy it.
Every song is good.

First to recommend
At first I was annoyed with Arcade Fire because I thought they were too critically adored for their own damn good. Then I got over myself and now I love almost every song on the album to death. (Get it? "To death"? 'Cause the name of the album's "Funeral"?...)
Anyway, I'm psyched for their next record, due out in March.

...proof that Canada produces some of the best musicians and bands around. You should seriosuly consider owning both Arcade Fire albums, but start with this one, their first.

O.k. so this is my first recommendation, so try to go easy on me. I am recommending the song "Wake up" by Arcade Fire, because if you are as obsessed as me with spike jonze and the Where the Wild Things Are movie and trailers this song and howling like a dog in the theaters has been stuck in your head for a while now. So, enjoi.
XOXO

My son turned me onto this group and I love them. Their music will be included in the upcoming movie 'Where the Wild Things Are' directed by Spike Jones. (via www.amazon.com)

The detail in that cover is beautiful. I don't know their music but they definitely got a good illustrator.

A great debut album. Crazy layered songs with instrumentation you wouldn't expect. When U2 started using "Wake Up" as the music they walked on-stage to, people kept asking who made that amazing music. Arcade Fire was already gathering critical steam at that point. Catchy songs that are slightly dark, and interesting overlying theme through the record, and terrific lyrics all added to their appeal. (P.S. I totally loved the package design as well)
