Tai-tai (pronounced "tie tie"), "ladies who lunch." In other words, a tai-tai is a woman who is married to a wealthy man, loves to shop, and goes to spas. After our estate agent's comment, I asked the mothers in Elisa's play group what they thought of when they heard the word. Gabrielle, Cantonese, confirmed my suspicions and added, "And a tai-tai always sleeps until 9:00 am." A perfect adornment to your car windows.
