The story of the Water Horse is a little like Puff the Magic Dragon on steroids: a real boy with a sad and serious affect becomes transformed by the friendship he forges with the creature that emerges from an egg he finds by the loch. Set during World War II, both the boy and the Water Horse encounter armed opposition and the specter of war. At times more of an adult's fairy tale, but a beautiful and heart-warming film nonetheless.
