The airstream is super cool. Designed well. I could either park it in my
driveway (if I had a driveway) or hit the road with it. (via Design Within Reach)

This trailer is so well designed, both inside and out, that you may actually want to consider relocating to it. Already outfitted with a slew of life's little niceties, including a Nelson Ball Clock, Heller Dinnerware and a Sony TV and sound system. (via Design Within Reach)

Cute, compact and of course practical... to start. I've always loved Airstreams,
but when I saw this compact, extremely well designed trailer and saw how perfect
it is, not only on a usable level, but on an aesthetic level, I knew this was a product
that I would be fixated on owning - and relatively speaking, I am not someone who
desires many things. If I can't afford one in my lifetime, I'll have to at least photograph
one or create paintings or drawings of one so that I can at least have an image,
or a group of images of the exterior and interior, displayed in my home !

This is what happens when you turn 40. The day I thought would never come. I am trading in my Porsche Boxster to get this Airstream. I've managed to somehow skipped the whole van phase and went straight for senior citizen mode. I think this decision should have triggered serious depression, but instead, I was excited.

THAT made me depressed.

I enjoy camping, but I dislike tent-living (sorry, I have to confess it. It's the zip/unzip the door thing that drives me nuts.). I love nice mobile homes though. Even at Burning Man, it made camping a luxury. This thing is officially a "trailer" but close enough. I can use it as a guest house by parking it in the back of my yard, which is 1/4 acre away from my own house (sweet, huh?). I can take the Giant Schnauzers on weekend trips without worrying about them taking down the tent every ten minutes.

To add to my existing confusion with life at 40, I discovered this thing at Design Within Reach! They offer this for $49,000. No, the money didn't freak me out. The fact that trailers are now hip and trendy?

What is the world coming to? (via Dimondites)
