In case you haven't noticed, everyone has gone mad for plaid this season. But don't fall victim to the rebirth of 90's grunge a-la plaid flannel shirts, ick! NO... As someone who spent the vast majority of her formidable years in the 90's, worshiping (and desperately trying to mimic) the glam style of old Hollywood starlets like Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Bettie Davis, I resisted the messy, unkept look of that particular decade. Plaid can oftentimes come off as such a masculine patterned design and when transfered onto button-down flannel, paired with ripped jeans and combat boots...it can be unflattering on ANY woman. Instead, it should be left to the manly men who wear it oh-so-well. However, tailored with the right design, plaid can actually transform into something quite feminine. Who knew?? Case in point, this chic tartan bodice style dress by Vivienne Westwood that instantly makes me think of Gwen Stefani during her Harajuku obsession. I've always loved her uniquely bold sense of style. This is one plaid obsession I can actually get into!!
This dress is so BAD! I've been looking for it online everywhere, (thanks to the first user that found it!). This is the dress I saw at Original in Toronto. I noticed it right away. They paired it with some bad ass layered chain necklaces. Fab, don't you think? The best part is it's plaid AND pleated, the red making it totally festive for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Wear it on one of the holidays and you're sure to cover that after feast bloat! No one will guess you slipped an extra piece of pie.
I have to have this dress. I will fly to London and pry it out of Ms. Westwood's hands if need be.
