The movie that started it all. Still a classic and kids still love it the first time they see it.

BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!! The mytho-poetic epic space opera for all ages, STAR WARS is a timeless classic. It hardly needs any introduction at this point but it is worth noting the scope and depth of George Lucas' vision. He created an entire universe and infused it w/an powerful sense of drama and titanic struggles between good and evil. Darth Vader is one of the most archetypal and evocative villains ever and turns out to be the real focus of the series. Luke Skywalker is a bit annoying as the Hero but Han Solo et al make up for any whininess on Luke's part.

If you really want to grok Star Wars, you should read Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" since it explains the role of mythology in human society and shows how myths continue to exert a powerful hold on our collective imagination as demonstrated by modern myths like Star Wars.

The first film that I ever adored completely. When the movie ended and I was sitting in the theater at seven years old, I refused to leave. That's the sort of sentiment I have towards Star Wars. A bit much, maybe, but a little nostalgia goes a long way.

What do I really need to say here? This was my favorite movie as a kid and I still haven't lost my taste for it.
