If you're serious about saving the planet from burning, invest in an LED bulb. They're better than compact fluorescents, though more expensive. It's amazing how much of a difference it would make if every American household had even just one of these instead of a much-used incandescent. And if all the bulbs were replaced by these LEDs, the impact would be huge.

The truth is that very few of the people who use compact fluorescent bulbs actually like them. Sure, they save tons of power, but even the "natural light" versions give off slightly odd colors. Lighting based on light-emitting-diodes is just now moving from the labs to store shelves, and the technology promises more natural-looking light from devices that actually use *less* power than CF bulbs, and can last even longer.

Forget flourescent light bulbs (okay, maybe not forget but you know what I mean)... LED light bulbs are the way to go. They're expensive, but what's a little price to save Mother Earth? What will you pay? I can afford to dish out a few more bucks. (via RemyC)
