This beautiful Irish blessing has been re-created by Bygone Arts. Per the artist's description: "God bless the corners of this house, and be the lintel blessed, And bless the hearth and bless the board and bless each place of rest, And bless each door that opens wide to strangers as to kin, And bless each crystal windowpane that lets the starlight in, And bless the rooftree overhead and every sturdy wall, The peace of man, The peace of God, With peace and love for all. This traditional Irish house blessing is written in the Insular Minuscule script, a script used only in Ireland and the British Isles in the early Middle Ages. The initial "G" is a Celtic knot resembling a contorted animal, based on a letter in the Book of Kells. The decoration is typical of early medieval Irish manuscripts: red dots surround the capital letters, and there are colorful designs in the empty spaces of the text. This text is written on archival white card stock--it would look beautiful framed, but the paper is thick enough that you could hang this directly on your wall. It measures 8" x 10", so it fits easily into a standard frame. This is a unique, hand-written creation, and you are buying the one-of-a-kind piece in the photographs."
