Sometimes, if kids prayers are answered, you get enough snow that your clogs can't handle. You can use galoshes, but isn't it better to buy a shoe for the occasion? Lands' End (why the ' ??) makes these great Extreme Squall boots, both in Men's and Women's versions. They are really lightweight, and don't feel at all like clunky winter gear. While not 100% waterproof, they are 100% water-resistant, which means that unless you plan to stand knee-deep in snow for an hour, your feet will stay dry and toasty. A thin layer of fleece keeps your toes warm while a rubber, treaded outsole provide solid traction. Best of all, donning and doffing requires but a simple pull or stretch of the elastic closure. They go above ankle height to get you through some snowbanks but aren't high enough to get uncomfortable. Very affordable and very useful.
