Although much maligned for the lack of reality, particularly in its depiction of a maverick fighter (aptly nick-named "Maverick"), this movie never ceases to thrill me with its up close and personal look at the courage and stamina of Navy fighter pilots. And a rousing rendition of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" will set my pulse racing every time.

Because of this movie, you can't go to a volleyball game anywhere and not hear some dude calling his friend goose or maverick. It's just another example of how Tom Cruise isn't in bad movies

We'll call this the ultimate guys movie. Undeinably, one of the highlights of Tom Cruises career, this remains a movie that is always referred to (and for good reason).
