I recently read about this item in the NYTimes/Home & Garden section - it's a new reminder tool for your food items - the Digital Day Counter! It has many applications but the most obvious is to place it on storage containers and enter your freshness date on the digital counter. That means no more post-it notes, pens & scotch tape on that next food item you're about to store away in the fridge or pantry. Try it on flour, rice, pasta or whatever you'd like to keep track of. Knowing my fridge, I would be in the market for a "months ago" version. I don't actaully own any of these gizmos, but I really like the idea--attach one of them to something in your fridge with either a suction cup or magnet, and it counts how many days have gone by since you last interacted with the food. Hit the button to reset it.

I'd be interested to hear about people's experiences with these guys. I can see this as the type of thing people end up loving. (via news.com)

This thing is genius. I'm ALWAYS forgetting to water the plants and when I remember, I never know when was the last time I watered them or how much to give. I'd pop one of these things on the planter and make life so much simpler for myself...
