Snatch is one of those incredible simple games that ends up being loads of fun. It's similar to Scrabble, in that you use tiles to spell out words, but it has the added advantage of being able to steal your opponent's words. For example, if they spell "hatch" you can drop a b on the h and make it "batch" and take those points. Scrabble with backstabbery. Sign me up. Oh, and it comes in a handy carrying tube, too. This game will appeal to the Scrabble and Boggle lovers but is much easier to learn than Scrabble and more interesting than Boggle. Games can be as fast as you want, or you can spend minutes trying to figure out how to steal words that others have built by reordering and adding letters.

SuperTeacher's recommendation

Smart smart smart: Since SuperTeacher only recommends games and books that work for everyone in the family (and your kids teachers), this is a super steal for that very reason. When I was growing up, my brothers and sisters and I had "Best of 3" Boggle tournaments on the beach in the summers, or after dinner.
This is the Boggle game we know and love from the 80's, with the extra added millenium edge.
It's simple, small, and secures an evening of quality time with the fam. Of course if you're a teacher, then you're thinking, "perfect for my classroom's "game shelf" (a.k.a
"Oh you're done with all your homework?"
Yup.
"Did you bring a book with you?"
Nah.
"Well then you can try my new word game!"
(Groan. But subsequent silence as students engross in challenging new word game.)
GO WORD GAMES! Reluctantly engaging kids at home and in classrooms all over the country!
Consumers, support WORD GAMES! (via esh)
