This is Origami taken to another level entirely. With the Saka Karakuri papercraft set you can fold a fish that flops around on a chopping block next to a steely (paper) knife, or, my favourite, a set of the three "see no evil, speak no evil etc." monkeys. They move with the turn of a paper-made crank! Soooo much cooler than the thousands of little jumping frogs I used to fold in math class.

You can make pretty much anything out of paper, especially when paper engineer master Keisuke Saka of Japan designs paper crafts for you to create. Saka Karakuri, which literally translates to "trick mechanism" is an art that includes making robotic toys with elegant, moving parts (including a crank to make the movement happen) - made entirely of folded paper (yes, the aforementioned crank, too!). These projects will take a few hours (well worth it) and produce lifelike (as lifelike as you can get with paper) models of either a fish flopping around on a chopping block with a butcher's knife, or "The Golden Rule" monkeys-see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil that come alive at the turn of a crank!
